The mansion was the largest residential structure ever built at that time and had in it one of the finest furniture, and decorative items. Famous Bacolod Ruins.

Heritage of Cebu Monument features some of Cebu’s historical events and sites. The construction was completed on December 2000 by a Filipino sculptor Eduardo Delos Santos Castrillo.

The structures shows the scene during the baptism of Rajah Humabon, a procession of the Santo Nino, a Roman Catholic mass, the Battle of Mactan between Ferdinand Magellan and Datu Lapu-lapu. A statue includes the late president Sergio Osmena Sr. and Blessed Pedro Calungsod.

The Heritage Monuement shows also the replica of Basilica de Santo Nino, the Magellan’s Cross, and a Spanish Galleon and the Cebu Metropolitan Cathedral.

The Monument is located in Parian Plaza where Within the vicinity is the Yap-Sandiego House.

Last week, I accompanied Miss Famous in Cathedral de Cebu to attend a wedding of her friend. Since the museum is just nearby, I decide to go there and take some photos. Yap-Sandiego Ancestral House known as one of the oldest house in our country; its museum showcases plenty of old artworks, life size statues, paintings, and antique furnitures.

The house is located at 155-Lopez Jaena corner Mabini Street infront of Cebu Heritage Monument in Parian. It was built 300 years ago by the original owner, a Chinese merchant Don Juan Yap and his wife Doña Maria Florido.  They had 3 children, namely, Maria, Eleuterio, and Consolacion Yap. Just a few years ago, this old house was turned over to Doña Maria’s great great grandson, Val Sandiego. Val himself is known in Cebu at present times as an art collector, renowned choreographer and a heritage icon.

The house for its priceless antiquities and century-old treasures of our history, hold secrets that will make us understand more of our past. With the knowledge this house offers, we will begin to truly understand how we became what we are today.

Situated amongst the farmlands in Talisay City, this heritage site is fast become a very popular Bacolod tourist attraction.

I am a frustrated painter, remembering those days I was sitting in this vast classroom, full of paintings, arts, crafts, and alike.. It was my first and the last painting class, I probably forgot everything that was thought but definitely not the experience of being on that room.

I’ve been looking pictures in my harddrives and saw this compilation I took when we were in Baguio City. This photos are actually paintings for sale and the store is located somewhere in Baguio’s Bonatical Garden. Who ever made these paintings, I am sure that they are made by the hands of a Filipino and it makes us realize how Filipinos are so talented.

Located in Beverly Hills Subdivision, Taoist temple is another well known tourist spot here in Cebu. The temple was built in 1972 by the substantial Chinese community as a center of worship of Taoism in Cebu. Going to the temple you must take its 81 steps representing the 81 chapters of Taoism scriptures.

The temple itself is a very nice place to relax and feel the fresh air away from the urban crowd of Cebu. The temple includes a chapel, a library, and a wishing well. Of course you can take pictures of the place except the altar and the sacred statues.

The Taoist temple is open to public for viewing though rules are implemented to preserve the solemnity of the place and those devotees that were praying. There are a lot of people visiting here every day; school field trips, locals, foreigners, and our friends Koreans. If you’re planning to come to Cebu, don’t miss to see this temple…

A replica of Great Wall of China

Official Sinulog 2011 Schedule of Activites is now available. You can now start making your travel plans to visit Cebu and witness this grandest and biggest festival in the country. The main festival is held each year on the third Sunday of January in Cebu City to honor the Santo Niño, or the child Jesus, who used to be the patron of the whole province of Cebu.

A milestone event of savvy people in El Salvador, Danao City, Cebu. Sherpa’s first company outing; a whole day of fun, games, and bumming.

El Salvador Beach Resort is located in the northern part of Cebu Island, a 45 minutes drive from the city proper. You can rent a van or you can call them to pick you up from any points of the Metro.

They caters large groups for a banquet services such us wedding, seminars, and company events. The place is clean and the food is great (I like the Humba). They have Videoke for 300 pesos per hour, though the large room is only for 15 persons, and Spa is also available.
